Keya Porteous

Biological Technician

Cert Env Tech, EMCPP

Keya was born and raised on the west coast of Vancouver Island which ignited her compassion for nature. She has been an environmental technician since 2016 and has been officially working alongside Current since 2022. After years of hands-on experience, she recently embarked on her educational journey and is halfway to completing her bachelor of science in biology, with the intention of pursing an R.P.Bio designation.

Keya has extensive experience in environmental monitoring on construction sites, fish and amphibian salvage, reporting, and assisting with restoration projects. Her perfect field day consists of sliding into waders to frolic around a wetland, surrounded by amphibians!

When she is not working, you can find her studying for exams, out on a hike with her dog, or planning her veggie garden and chicken coop.
